Joe Rogan’s Transformation Into A Watch Nerd Is Almost Complete! (Joe Rogan’s Watch Collection)
He started out like many of us do, with a simple G-Shock. But back in 2019, the world-beating podcast host had a guy named Matt Farah on his podcast. Matt’s known mainly as an automotive journalist, and Rogan is as a car buff.
But Mr. Farah is also a big watch fan of the highest order. So when Rogan remarked that he didn’t really understand luxury watches, Farah sprung into action. Rogan’s initial contention was that unlike say, cars or computers, watch technology didn’t tend to improve every year.
Farah then pulled up some pics and videos of modern, high-end pieces like the Jacob & Co Astronomy watches, and both guys proceeded to geek out. Mr. Rogan then got a look at Farah’s Grand Seiko Spring Drive piece…and the fire was lit!
He’s been spotted rocking the SLA033, the '70s retro drop of Seiko’s classic diver. He also owns a GS SBGA229, the Grand Seiko version of said diver’s watch. He also owns a modern Omega Seamaster and a blue Breitling Superocean Heritage.
Famously, he was also given an all-gold vintage Rolex Submariner as a gift from a friend. We say 'famously,' because it was this watch Mr. Rogan spoke of when Elon Musk went on his show to talk watches and spontaneously smoke a little baby spliff!*
(They spoke about more than this, of course, but let’s just keep it simple here.*)
The all-gold piece isn’t Mr. Rogan’s only Rollie; he also has a 44mm 'Deepsea' blue-faced Submariner, the 'James Cameron' watch. He owns both a white-gold Daytona and a Yacht-Master. Of course, as a bit of a gym rat and former UFC commentator, he owns some 'beaters' like the G-Shock 'Mudmaster' range and the Casio 'Pro Trek' pieces.
He’s also a fan of the 'hi-glow' Tritium tubes in Luminox and Traser watches; he owns a Lumi 'Navigator' in an all-black colourway, and has also been pictured wearing a Traser H3 Red Combat. In effect, these watches are pure Joe. He’s a pretty 'no-nonsense' collector who likes bold designs, and wants his gear to be able to handle whatever the world throws at it.
So these watches all make sense.
He also owns a couple Panerais. As a UFC commentator, he was seen regularly rocking the Submersible, the watch made famous by early 2000s action stars Sly Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger. At some point in 2019 he also bought a 512.
It just goes to show that if you have a buddy who likes watches (and isn’t snobby about explaining them to you) there’s a chance that you might catch the collecting bug yourself!
The real question is that now that Mr. Rogan has moved on to Spotify and signed what we know to at least be a 100-million-dollar deal…will he celebrate by purchasing a new watch? Possibly a Jacob or a crazy HYT complicated masterpiece?
Not unlike a U.S. politician, Joe seems to keep a low profile when it comes to fashion and wristwear, so it’s also possible that he has something like the watches mentioned above in a safe or a beach house somewhere. But knowing Joe’s honesty, if he has something like that he’ll eventually rock it.
Either way, we’re excited that someone as influential as Joe is getting into watches, and that something as silly as a watch can provide some fun in this life.
